Microwave Oven Recycling and Disposition
Comprenew recycles microwave ovens. Maybe your microwave no longer works, or perhaps you bought a new one and don’t know what to do with the old, yet still working microwave. Comprenew can help. We make it easy to do the right thing.
It’s important you dispose of your old microwave properly. Putting it in the trash is a bad idea, and it may not be legal in your area. Even if it were legal, there are a number of components in microwaves that can be toxic to the environment. Put simply, it’s not good to send your old microwave to a landfill.
If your microwave is inoperable and you’ve concluded repair or replacement of parts isn’t feasible, it’s time for recycling. The materials and components of a microwave can be considered hazardous waste or household hazardous waste depending on regulations in your area. Should your old microwave not be able to be fixed, it should be recycled.
Regardless of whether your old microwave works, bring it to Comprenew. Comprenew prioritizes refurbishment over recycling whenever possible. When refurbishment is not possible, we disassemble microwaves, appropriately handle hazardous materials, and route recoverable components into streams of commodities that can be reused or converted into raw materials again.
If you have used or inoperable microwaves, take them to one of our drop-off locations—or click the button to schedule a pick-up. We’ll help you do the right thing.
