Director of Outbound Sales

Location: Comprenew Headquarters & Stores

Reports to: President of Comprenew

Position Summary: Comprenew is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect people and the environment from unwanted electronics, by either extending their life-cycle or recycling their components. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

We are looking for a high-energy, self-motivated individual to lead the combined entity of E-Commerce, Physical Stores, and POS departments. These three functions must work together efficiently to provide Comprenew’s online and retail customers with the very highest product and service value. This position also must ensure the accurate reflection of our unique data privacy, environmental stewardship, and digital inclusion mission. This position currently provides operational leadership to a staff of approximately 14.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Strategize and organize departments in an effective manner to meet and exceed sales goals

· Hire and onboard employees that work in the store, online, and pos departments

· Oversee schedules and ensure that all shifts are covered

· Manage overall employee occupational health, turnover, and job satisfaction

· Attend weekly meetings with other departments, and provide data, updates, and reports on sales

· Manage various projects from conception through completion

· Assist the marketing team with generating ideas and strategy for retail marketing efforts

· Resolve customer complaints

· Purchase supplies for all departments

· Schedule maintenance/repair appointments as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Preferred Qualifications:

· One or more years of proven customer service responsibility, preferably in the technology service area

· One or more years in a leadership role is required

· Previous exposure to a point of sales system and e-Commerce platform is a plus

· Reliable transportation

Driver

Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

We are looking for assistance with our inbound electronic collection services! This is a part time role, with occasional Saturday shifts required. This position has the possibility of becoming full-time. We are seeking someone who has broad technical knowledge, ability to lift and move computer equipment, strong personal relationship and communication skills, and, most importantly, a desire to help people in the community and the environment while leaving a positive lasting impression of Comprenew. Additional background checks might be required in accordance with DOT regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow all DOT rules and regulations
  • Coordinate route logistics with corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan on a weekly basis
  • Maintain corporate and residential relationships
  • Assist at collection events throughout Michigan as needed, including sorting electronics
  • Keep the company truck up to date on maintenance
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance
  • Pick up customer electronics and paper for shredding
  • Work with other team members to assist with mobile shredding
  • Deliver CAMP (Connect All Michigan Program) units to recipients, and offer basic computer setup services when requested. This includes setting up a desktop, potentially connecting it to a printer, and testing the camera in front of the recipient.
  • Be alert and mindful of surroundings when moving electronic equipment, and come prepared with the necessary tools.
  • Demonstrate professional manner and appearance
  • Attend weekly virtual meetings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to pass all background checks and have a clean driving record
  • Familiar with DOT regulations
  • Ability to be on the road for long hours and the rare possibility of staying overnight in a hotel
  • Above average math and language skills
  • Ability to lift 40lbs repetitively
  • Ability to move at least 75lbs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexibility to deal with a wide variety of customers and their needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A chauffeur’s license
  • One or more years of proven customer service responsibility, preferably in the technology service area
  • One or more years of truck driving is preferred
  • Reliable transportation

  • Associate’s degree in business or similar field is a plus

Store Manager

Location: Comprenew Retail Stores

Reports to: Director of Outbound Sales

We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our loyal customer base while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. The ideal candidate should have a technical skill set, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work closely with the public selling merchandise. Store Managers serve our loyal customer base and contribute to the performance and growth of the retail store(s) while communicating the mission of Comprenew. They represent, grow, and integrate our service and digital equity mission into a set geographic area. This is a year-round full-time, salaried, position. Comprenew stores are open Monday-Saturday. Potential advancement opportunities exist for the right candidate.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attain results by coaching, counseling, and shaping other team members; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Achieve financial objectives by reviewing P/L and other financial and performance statements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Market merchandise by studying advertising, promotions, and adhering to display plans
  • Secure merchandise by implementing security systems and measures
  • Enter data accurately and in a timely manner into various reports and forms
  • Work cooperatively with fellow store managers and the Director of Outbound to standardize policies and procedures across all stores
  • Maintain order and cleanliness at the store
  • Open and close the store in a safe and secure manner
  • Assist customers in diagnosing basic computer issues
  • Support staff with the residential recycling program, ensuring that all product is sorted properly for pick up
  • Maintain proactive communication with all levels of store personnel
  • Contribute to strategies outlined by the Director of Outbound

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more years in a retail management position
  • Proven retail customer service experience, preferably in the technology service area
  • Flexible schedule, willing to work some Saturdays and holidays
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Reliable transportation

Sales Associate - Key Holder

Location: Comprenew Retail Stores

Reports to: Store Manager & Director of Outbound Sales

We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our loyal customer base while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. The ideal candidate should have a technical skill set, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work closely with the public selling merchandise. All positions at Comprenew have the opportunity for advancement. This position promotes along the track of Key Holder, Assistant Manager, and Manager and the potential to become full-time after the Key Holder level.

The Key Holder is responsible for opening and closing the retail store safely and securely. They are responsible for the daily operations of the store in absence of the Store Manager. This position may require travel to various locations within the greater GR area.
