CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (RETAIL)

Retail Sales– Electronics Store

Job Description:

Comprenew is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect people and the environment from unwanted electronics by either extending their life-cycle or recycling their components. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at 3 retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our loyal customer base while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. All positions at Comprenew have the opportunity for advancement. This position promotes along the track of Key Holder, Assistant Manager, and Manager and the potential to become full-time after the Key Holder level.

Store hours are Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Duties include:

· Providing exceptional customer service.
· Maintaining order and cleanliness at the store.
· Sorting, reviewing and testing incoming merchandise
· Accurate use of the register.
· Filling out forms and file paperwork
· Assisting customers in diagnosing basic computer issues
· Merchandise products available in the stores.

Skills and Abilities:

POINT-OF-SALE SUPERVISIOR

Job Description: This is a full time (40hrs/week) position reporting to the Director of Retail Flow.  The position is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the point of sale (POS) system used in the retail stores and POS area in the warehouse.  The position requires the writing and updating of all training materials as well as conducting training as needed. The individual will be responsible for generating reports for management as needed.   The person is responsible for overseeing the input, barcoding, and packaging of all items designated for sale in the retail stores as well as overseeing the distribution of those items to the various retail locations.  The position requires troubleshooting software and inventory issues reported by store personnel.  This position works closely with the Reclaim and Refurb departments as well as retail store personnel.

 

Education and Experience: An Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent training and experience.  The position requires – as a minimum – a basic knowledge of computers and computer components.  Additional experience in electronics and electronic devices is also beneficial.

 

Background: Experience should include a minimum of one year in an inventory control position or a retail environment where stocking and inventory control duties were part of the responsibilities.  Experience in configuring programs for specific work environments is also useful.  Experience in training others in electronic or computer technology is also desirable.

 

Required Training:  Configuration and use of POS software.  The flow of refurbished items from initial evaluation of incoming material through packaging, stocking, and delivery.  Proper packaging of items to prevent damage as well as proper display in the stores.   Procedures for data security.

Skills and Abilities:

    • A self-starter and capable of performing tasks with little or no supervision.
    • Multitasking and establishing priorities for accomplishing goals in a quick paced environment.

IT Disassembly Technician

Job Description: The IT Disassembly Technician reports to the Refurb Department Lead and is a part-time position (20 to 28 hours per week).  Hours are flexible but individual must be available at least 4 days a week.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Disassembly of various types of electronic equipment such as desktop & laptop computers, networking equipment, audio/video equipment (stereos, projectors, TV’s, etc.), and other miscellaneous electronics.
  • Sorting disassembled products into component categories.
  • Assisting with department incoming tasks as needed.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Additional experience (desired but not required):

  • Warehouse work
  • Any type of electronics or technical work.
  • Familiarity with computers.
  • Work with various types of hand held tools.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in reading and writing English
  • Stay focused on assigned tasks
  • Adapt quickly to change.
  • Occasionally work with minimal supervision.
  • Visually distinguish between similar items with small differences.
  • Learn new tasks quickly.

Inventory Control Assistant

Description:  The position reports to the Point of Sale (POS) supervisor and is full-time (32 to 40 hours per week).  Hours are somewhat flexible but individual must be available a minimum 4 days a week (Certain days may have less flexibility depending on shipping schedules).

Security Level:  Secure equipment and data

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sort, package, and mark product designated for sale in the retail stores.
  • Organize product within the POS area and regularly clean the area and product.
  • Identify different types of product using online resources as needed.
  • Enter product into the inventory control software.
  • Use pick lists to retrieve product, prepare shipping documents and pack parts for shipment to the stores.
  • Work with other departments to resolve product issues.
  • Ensure the security of product to prevent loss and theft.
  • Handle product in a safe and secure manner to prevent injuries and product damage.
  • Train and supervise others assigned to work in the POS area.

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.  Some higher education is beneficial.

Additional experience that is desirable but not required:

  • Understanding of warehouse flow
  • Use of inventory control systems.
  • Stocking/picking of product.
  • Familiarity with computers and other electronic devices.

Skills needed to fully perform function:

  • Proficiency in reading and writing English
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Electronics Collection & Delivery

Description

Comprenew is growing and in need of another Chauffer Floater to help with inbound equipment collection services! Starting out as part-time (under 30 hours/week), this position has the possibility of becoming full-time. The employee will be used wherever needed, wear multiple hats and work closely with Customer Service to strategize the greatest needs. We seek someone who has broad technical knowledge, ability to lift and move computer hardware, strong personal relationship and communication skills, and most importantly, a desire to help people in need and the environment while leaving a positive lasting impression of Comprenew!

Responsibilities:

Connect All Michigan Program Deliveries:

  • Load Mini Box Truck with the appropriate reusable green bins.
  • Make a Pre-Appointment Call to let recipients know when to expect us.
  • Provide in-home hardware setup and quick-testing procedures.

“Comprenew 2 You” Residential /Small Business Recycling Pickups:

  • Remove unwanted hardware.
  • Demonstrate professional manner and appearance.
  • Be alert and mindful of surroundings when moving equipment.
  • Walls, sliding door channels, switchback staircases, cars in garages, etc
  • Bring blankets, dolly, and other protection / hardware transportation tools.
  • Bring drill when breakdown of large printer / projection TV is needed

“2 You” Local Deliveries for Online Store:

  • Safe delivery transportation for Online Sales.
  • Groupme App Communication with Online to stay up to date.

Assist in Corporate Pickups when needed:

  • Coordinate with Transportation Crew to schedule help for Corporate Pickups.
  • Ride along to assist the logistics team.
  • Assist retail stores in prepping for recycling pickups and provide education/guidance when needed

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to move at least 75lbs
  • Some technical knowledge of computer hardware installation
  • Set up and test computer
  • Connect to wi-fi printer
  • Test camera
