Comprenew is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect people and the environment from unwanted electronics, by either extending their life-cycle or recycling their components. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth. We are dedicated to inspiring environmental care and increasing vocational preparedness through education for people from all segments of society, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or status.

Retail Sales Associate

Position Summary: We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our loyal customer base while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. The ideal candidate should have a technical skill set, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work closely with the public selling merchandise. All positions at Comprenew have the opportunity for advancement. This position promotes along the track of Key Holder, Assistant Manager, and Manager and the potential to become full-time after the Key Holder level.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain order and cleanliness at the stores
  • Assist customers with diagnosing basic computer issues
  • Understand and contribute to sales goals
  • Merchandise products available in store
  • Maintain proactive communication with all levels of store personnel
  • Effectively contribute to strategies outlined by the Store Manager
  • Fill out forms and file paperwork

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High energy, strong work ethic, positive attitude, driven to succeed
  • Basic understanding of most computer parts and pieces
  • Navigate most popular OS including Windows XP-Window 8, with a strong emphasis on Windows 10
  • Flexibility to handle a wide variety of customers and their needs
  • Accurate money handling
  • Work effectively as part of the retail team
  • Multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Understand and speak English
  • Ability to bend, reach and lift repeatedly
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to travel the length of the facility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Cell phone, tablet, Apple repair and OS experience
  • Basic understanding of Linux and Mac OS

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED (or higher)

Security Level: Secure data, equipment, financial.

Job Type: Part-time, 24-32 hours per week.

Store Manager

Location: Comprenew Retail Stores

Reports to: VP of Operations

Position Summary: Comprenew is a nonprofit organization, protecting people and the environment from unwanted electronics. Extending their life-cycle through refurbishment or properly handling their disassembly and recycling. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. Comprenew offers high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at two retail locations in the Grand Rapids area.

We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our customers through sales, repair, and recycling services while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. The ideal candidate should have a technical skill set, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work closely with other members of the Comprenew organization to maintain mission and operational goals. Managers represent, grow, and integrate our service and digital equity programs into the community as a key part of the customer service team. This is a year-round full-time, salaried, position. Comprenew stores are open Monday-Saturday. Potential advancement opportunities exist for the right candidate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Attain results by coaching, counseling, and shaping other team members; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results

· Achieve financial objectives by reviewing P/L and other financial and performance statements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

· Market merchandise by studying advertising, promotions, and adhering to display plans

· Secure merchandise by implementing security systems and measures

· Enter data accurately and in a timely manner into various reports and forms

· Work cooperatively with fellow store managers and the Director of Outbound to standardize policies and procedures across all stores

· Maintain order and cleanliness at the store

· Open and close the store in a safe and secure manner

· Assist customers in diagnosing basic computer issues

· Support staff with the residential recycling program, ensuring that all product is sorted properly for pick up

· Maintain proactive communication with all levels of store personnel

· Contribute to strategies outlined by the Director of Outbound

· Basic understanding of most computer parts and pieces

· Navigate most popular OS including Windows

· Basic understanding of Windows, Mac OS, and Linux

· Accurate money handling

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to lift 40lbs repetitively; sit/stand for extended periods; understand, speak and write English; and use fine motor skills for repairing computers

Preferred Qualifications:

· Two or more years in a retail management position

· Proven retail customer service experience, preferably in the technology service area

· Flexible schedule, willing to work some Saturdays and holidays

· Spanish speaking is a plus

· Reliable transportation

Education:

· High school diploma/GED (or higher)
