Shipping & Receiving Lead

Location: Comprenew

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Position Summary: Comprenew is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect people and the environment from unwanted electronics, by either extending their life-cycle or recycling their components. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive electronics recycling at the pick-up and drop-off entrance of the warehouse.
  • Evaluate product and determine price category for billing.
  • Handle credit and debit card payments, as well as accurately making change for cash payments.
  • Provide excellent customer service and educate customers on Comprenew services and standards.
  • Assist the audit team with sorting and processing material.
  • Enter accurate data into necessary warehouse management software.
  • Send incoming material to the correct department for further processing.
  • Ensure that all outgoing mail & packages leave the building with the correct shipping carriers.
  • Distribute incoming packages & orders to the correct department or person.
  • Handle all product & packages with safe lifting and handling practices.
  • Advancement opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge or ability to be trained to identify electronics parts, and correctly route them to the next process.
  • Manufacturing background is preferred.
  • General labor position history with physical work preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED (or higher)

Security Level: Secure equipment, data, financial.

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour

Inventory Control Assistant

Location: Comprenew

Reports to: Point of Sale Lead

Position Summary: Comprenew is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect people and the environment from unwanted electronics, by either extending their life-cycle or recycling their components. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the flow of refurbished product to the retail stores.
  • Ensure a high standard of quality in the appearance and labeling of product going to the retail stores.
  • Follow, maintain, and improve established processes.
  • Ensure the security of product to prevent loss and theft.
  • Ensure customer information and data is handled and protected in accordance with all applicable standards.
  • Work with other departments to resolve product issues (inaccurate pricing/labeling, items that appear damaged, etc.).
  • Efficiently process material to maintain maximum output and quality of product.
  • Pick product and pack for shipment to the retail stores.
  • Multitask and establish priorities in a quick paced environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Maintain a consistent turnaround of product to ensure a steady flow to the retail stores.
  • Effective communication with staff, work crew and volunteers both orally and in writing.
  • Travel the length of the facility.
  • Repeated bending and lifting of up to 50lbs.
  • Walk around the warehouse and stand at a workstation for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A technology background with various electronic devices is preferred.
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to work alone or with others while maintaining a steady workflow.
  • Previous training in inventory control is preferred.
  • Speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED (or higher)

Job Type: Part-time, 32-36 hours per week

Pay: $13.00 – $15.00 per hour

Sales Associate - Key Holder

Location: Comprenew Store, Holland

Reports to: Store Manager & Director of Outbound Sales

Position Summary: Comprenew is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect people and the environment from unwanted electronics, by either extending their life-cycle or recycling their components. We hold the highest level of certifications in the world for both electronics recycling and data security. We offer high quality affordable refurbished electronics for sale at three retail locations in the Grand Rapids/Holland MI area. Proceeds from the retail stores help fund and grow Comprenew’s community outreach programs for both adults and at-risk youth.

We are looking for high-energy, self-motivated individuals to serve our loyal customer base while contributing to the growth of our retail stores and mission. The ideal candidate should have a technical skill set, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work closely with the public selling merchandise. All positions at Comprenew have the opportunity for advancement. This position promotes along the track of Key Holder, Assistant Manager, and Manager and the potential to become full-time after the Key Holder level.

The Key Holder is responsible for opening and closing the retail store safely and securely. They are responsible for the daily operations of the store in absence of the Store Manager. This position may require travel to various locations within the greater GR area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Maintaining order and cleanliness at the store
  • Opening and closing the store in a safe and secure manner
  • Assisting customers in diagnosing basic computer issues
  • Understanding and contributing to sales goals
  • Merchandising products available in the stores
  • Maintaining proactive communication with all levels of store personnel
  • Contributing to strategies outlined by the Store Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High energy, strong work ethic, positive attitude
  • Basic understanding of most computer parts and pieces
  • Navigate most popular OS including Windows XP -Window 8, with a strong emphasis on Windows 10
  • Basic understanding of Linux and Mac OS
  • Accurate money handling
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Lift 40lbs repetitively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Proven retail customer service experience, preferably in the technology service area.
  • Flexible schedule, willing to work Saturdays and holidays
  • Reliable transportation

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED (or higher)

Pay: $13.00 – $16.00 per hour
