With the help of communities connected with the three churches listed below and Grand Rapids residents at our two e-Thrift stores and donation centers, Comprenew collected and processed 21,095 pounds of electronics over a 10 day period following Christmas. THANK YOU to all who participated!

The MRC Excellence Awards were presented during the Opening Keynote Address & Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 26 at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.  Kyle Shoemaker, Operations Director at Comprenew, accepted this award at the conference on behalf of the Comprenew team.  Mr. Shoemaker has been a significant leader in running this program that teaches individuals to build self-awareness and their employability skills. The Steering Committee of the Michigan Rehabilitation Conference extended its congratulations to Mr. Shoemaker and Comprenew on this important accomplishment.

Spectrum Health teamed with Comprenew again the past 4 weeks to collect electronic items for recycling and have Comprenew responsibly process the items diverting them from local landfills.

E-Waste is a major environmental concern, and Comprenew’s zero-landfill policy addresses the problem throughout Michigan.  Unwanted electronics can either become toxic refuse or recycled goods.  With the help of Comprenew’s Best Practice recycling programs and the enthusiastic participation from Spectrum Health employees, our community continues to make the right choice.

Beginning the week of October 17th and over four weeks time, Comprenew placed its’ e-Drop Trailers onsite at six different Spectrum Health facilities. As was the case last year, the results of the collection were fantastic and speak to Spectrum Health employee’s concern regarding electronics recycling.

Approximately 17,618 pounds of electronics was collected solely from Spectrum Health employees during this initiative. AWESOME!

Comprenew Environmental operates an electronics recycling facility at 629 Ionia SW and is the only non-profit electronics recycler registered with the state of Michigan. Comprenew’s mission is to inspire our community to live and work in a sustainable manner by providing best practice electronics recycling. By involving the workforces of such corporate customers as Spectrum Health, Comprenew hopes to not only provide a convenient service, but also inspire more people to live sustainably.

47 GVSU students spent four hours volunteering here to help recycle electronics. Working together, they disassembled over 300 personal computers, creating value out of obsolete technology and keeping “e-Waste” out of our local landfills.

Their generous donation of their time support our efforts to provide responsible electronics recycling to the Grand Rapids community.

Garfield Park Neighborhood Assoc., Kingdom Square Church, 600 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids – 4,091 lbs collected

Norse Recycling, Rite Aid Parking Lot, corner of Lake and Whitehall Rd., North Muskegon – 860 lbs collected

At Comprenew, your local nonprofit electronics recycler, employees from Farmers Insurance, Fifth Third Bank, Steelcase, Bissell Corporation, and Custer Technology will work with us to help keep electronics out of local landfills. Last year for this event, hundreds of personal computers were disassembled by over 60 volunteers. Comprenew staff truly appreciates their efforts and is excited for this year’s event.
