The Problem
In our fast-paced consumer cycle, product innovation is creating unprecedented toxic waste. The consumer appetite for new technologies greatly diminishes lifetime value of electronics. Computers, PDAs, cell phones and other consumer electronics have become disposable items. Disposal of electronics becomes either toxic refuse or recycled goods.

Our Solution
Last year, Comprenew kept over 3.5 million pounds of electronics out of landfills. This amount is only a fraction of the electronic waste just in West Michigan. Comprenew’s efforts to collect and process more electronics will allow us to easily exceed 4 million pounds this year.

Our mission is to inspire our community to live and work in a sustainable manner. This mission is accomplished by providing environmentally responsible electronics recycling and green job training for at-risk youth and challenged adults. 100% of proceeds generated go toward community service programs that focus on education and environmental initiatives.

Comprenew is a certified R2:2008 recycler and uses the best practices in the electronics recycling and data security industry. With a zero-landfill and zero-export policy, Comprenew processes end-of-life equipment in compliance with our R2 (Responsible Recycling) certification and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

At Comprenew, we teach our workers and students how corporate environmental stewardship is good for business through the process of electronics recycling. To date, Comprenew is the only organization in Michigan that is incorporating this philosophy in a business apprenticeship environment to inner-city youth.
